A look into Ankita's life

A little of everything

Growing up, I did a little of everything — music, dance, sports, art. I was that kid who wanted to try it all.

Art, empathy & design

Eventually, drawing and painting won. I spent years taking commissions, freelancing, and somewhere along the way wrote a research paper on mirror neurons and empathy in art. I didn't know it yet, but I was already thinking like a designer.

Finding UX at SCAD

That path led me to UX and to SCAD — where I'm part of FLUX, student ambassador programs, trying new things, meeting people who care about the same stuff I do, and having the best time doing it.

Still dancing

And now a recent hobby I picked up: line dancing. Three years in and I have absolutely no plans to stop — I need to start my own dancing company, and start a boot collection.

What I've learned about myself as a designer

I'm the connector. Across every project I've been part of, the role I naturally gravitate toward is the one that sits at the intersection — translating between research and design, between teams and stakeholders, between what users need and what the business is trying to do. I make sure everyone is working toward the same thing instead of in siloes.

Yet, I don't think of myself as a generalist. I think of myself as someone who specializes in the end-to-end experience — systems thinking, service and experience design, and the kind of design leadership that keeps a project coherent from first insight to final handoff.

What I want to delve into next

Most of my experience has been in B2B. B2C is a space I'm looking forward to exploring — designing for a broader, more varied audience would be a great challenge to tackle. I'm also drawn to design strategy and product management, where design thinking moves upstream into how products are shaped and prioritized from the very beginning.
